Pain unmanaged: Considering change in breast cancer surgeon

Posted by texas5 @texas5, Jan 12 5:15pm

I am six months post lumpectomy and am considering a change in breast cancer surgery as I have concerns that surgeon not taking pain seriously.
Has any had similar experience?

@texas5, I'm sorry to hear you are still experiencing pain 6 months after surgery. Have you consulted with a pain management team?

This is not excruciating pain, but it is constant and dull and a heavy feeling.
Did you ever experience anything similar?

I will look into speaking to my medical oncologist. I have appointment with her in approx three weeks and yes I will inquire about pain management.

Did you have radiation? I ended up with lymphedema as a result of radiation…not uncommon. I experience a dull pain and heaviness in the breast…my new normal. Consult a physical therapist trained in this area. She changed my life. Simple techniques ease the discomfort.

Thank you for your response.
Makes me feel a little less concerned, knowing that maybe it is normal.
But I will be following up with my medical oncologist and ask about physical therapy.

REPLY

No I did not have radiation which I regret immensely
