Hi @blm47, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing worrisome symptoms and thankful that you are getting them investigated with your doctor. Like the information that @djjnurse and @parrot53 shared, CEA levels alone are not an indication that you have cancer. Other conditions that can cause CEA to rise include:
Gastritis (inflammation of your stomach) and stomach ulcers.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Liver diseases like cirrhosis, fatty liver or gallstones.
Diverticulitis.
Diabetes.
Any autoimmune or inflammatory disease.
Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis).
Hemorrhoids.
Pneumonias (including COVID-19 pneumonia).

Is your doctor sending you for further testing to get to the bottom of this?

Hi Coleen, I have an appointment with my GI dr. On the 1/23/25 and yes I am going to insist on more intense testing. If I don't insist these doctors will just brush it off as nothing to be concerned about. At least that's all I've been getting thus far. But I intend to change that even if I have to request to talk with the Medical director. Thank you for the info and support, I really appreciate it from you and the group, thanks so much. BLM47.
