I had blood test after my alkaline phosphatase was elevated for a CA 19-9 marker. Came back at 141 (anything > 30 indicates cancer)
I had right upper quadrant pain and it rebounded upon touching for about a year before I went to doctor for blood test as I just thought it was my floating rib and that it was just bruised. A month later, had another blood test, after becoming jaundice and more pain which a CT scan showed that I had a blockage in my bile duct. I then proceeded to having laproscopic surgery, Endus, ERCP, MRCP, etc.... but my biopsies were always negative for cancer, thus once started in May 2024, I am now receiving CHEMO 8 months later and the mass had moved out of my common bile duct, to the bifurication and into my right lobe /left lobe of liver. As a retired RN, I was my best advocate to continue to insist on tests and finally treatment. I encourage you to request a CA19-9 blood test, a CT scan, BMP, Hepatic Panel, CBC to start. You can always get repeated tests too. Good luck! djjnurse
The gallbladder is located near liver and my mom had gallbladder stones which is why she had the same pain,

Djjnurse, I really appreciate you. I really pray that you caught it in time for a cure. I don't like the idea of a biopsy because In my opinion whenever they poke into the cancer it's like poking a stick into a hornet's nest and causes the cancer to spread like wild fire. I think it's safer to just do surgery take out tumor and all the cancer and then they can get all the biopsy they need to determine treatments without spreading cancer all over your body. Cancer runs high in my family and that's been the case with everyone of them. I lost my mother, my brother, and now my baby sister is in hospice because of cancer. I'm praying that I'm not next.
Anyways , how are you doing ? Is ur treatments working so far ? I sure hope so.
I wanna thank you for all the great info I will certainly bring it up with my GI dr. On the 23 of this month and hope I can get the answers lm hoping for. Thanks again . TTYL, BLM47.
