Urostomy after cystectomy: Extension tube for sleeping?
My husband has a urostomy. He uses a bard foley bag but it is not long enough to turn at night.
What extension tubing could be used to make it longer? Thanks

@donpeg, good question. I added your post to the Ostomy support group too. I'm also tagging some fellow urostomates like @msrollo1960 @katey122 @gordy6898p @katydid77 @ggarrepy @jmcmurdo to see if they have some tips to help your husband sleep more comfortably.
Donpeg, how long has he had the urostomy?
I have an illeostomy.
I wish we knew what to use. My husband has had a urostomy for 5 years. He uses a nite-time drain bag which hangs inside a trash can beside his bed, He has learned how to turn a little on his side without disrupting anything. Most of the time he lies on his back. We have a frame which fits between the mattress and box springs and it keeps the covers from binding his feet. Good luck with finding a solution. Please update us if you do.
Has anyone ever reached out to Bard? I will try. How hard could it be to make a night drainage bag with longer tubing.
I believe they are located in Ireland.
It is possible to splice in an extension. I don't have the details any longer unfortunately. There is a person in the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) bladder cancer support group that has done it on a Bard bag. If someone can contact the MSK support group coordinator maybe they can make the connection.
I use the night bag from Coloplast and it is 4' long not counting the bag. From the looks of it I think it could be easily joined with another 4 feet, but I'd contact Coloplast as their customer service is quite good. The tube itself is 4 feet long, and separate from the bag. You just insert the tube in to the bag, and I've never had an issue with the bag or the tube.
Thank you.
I did write to Bard . They are owned by BD. I hope they will reply. My husband is working on a work around.
The Coloplast bag is used with their products I believe and he uses Hollister. They all have their own. Convatec has a jug.
