I don't think the fact that it is given IV makes a difference. Most chemo meds are given by iv, and definitely cause nausea. Another example - I can't take nsaids like Motrin because I have esophagitis. My doctor says it doesn't matter if I take the pills, or use the ointments containing nsaids - the side effect will be the same for me. Just a though.

It depends on the medication. For example, I know that oral iron supplementation can cause a variety of digestive issues so is often administered intravenously to avoid these side effects. It's worth asking your doctor about Reclast's side effects especially since you've had nausea from other osteoporosis meds.
