@nanniepie

Thank you so much Elizabeth your reply was so very very helpful. I think I’m just having a really pity party with my self and yet I know I have so much to be grateful for. A good family and support system and good Drs. I’m 76 years young 😂 and truly never saw this coming but I’m sure none of us did. I’m going to re read your reply a few times to hopefully let all its goodness sink in. Thank you. This is truly a great support group.

hello @nanniepie I hope I can make you laugh a bit - When I was on Medical leave and still at a suboptimal dose of Prednisone I used to message my three female co-workers ( not the guys) to keep in touch about how I was doing with some 'girl talk' . I informed them that my husband absolutely could NOT get the knack of brush long hair and putting into a ponytail. I sent them this informative paragraph below and asked if we had a policy at work to wear a bra ( I hoped not since I could barely put on any kind of top) ??!! When I think back , I must have been quite a sight with my hair barely combed.

"Functional limitations {of PMR} – Proximal stiffness can result in difficulties with activities of daily living, such as pulling on a shirt or coat, hooking a bra in the back, donning socks and shoes, or transferring from the supine or seated position to standing. The intensity of the gelling phenomenon, coupled with proximal stiffness, can be such that patients may require assistance with morning dressing." [this is from webpage uptodate.com]

I hope you are doing some exercise or PT for PMR ! A woman at the JCC always wears the most beautiful shade of lipstick to exercise classes ! Maybe it's time for a shopping trip !

I'll attach a link to a different conversation I started long ago about the 'faces of PMR'. : https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/revisit-the-pmrandil6-site-_pmr-needs-new-faces-of-patients/
