Thank you for posting christine25. I am also 71, but my cancer had already spread prior to diagnosis. So surgery is not recommended, started ADT last September and the cancer has responded and my PSA is now very low. My wife is very supportive and cooks healthy meals every day, we also exercise every day. I agree that one’s mindset is so important.

Hello Johnernest. Thank you for sharing. They did not suggest salvage radiation to the pelvic bed as an additional treatment? My husband is treated in the Sylvester University of Miami hospital. We were happy to have gone through the radiation as well. There were no side effects at all and the doctor said that cancer cells in the radiated area are dead. With the ADT we are treating the cancer cells that have escaped to the rest of the body, trying to starve them and either be cured (they gave him a 70% chance) or extend life as much as possible. In USA they do 2 years of ADT. In Europe (where I am from) they do it for 3 years. You are going to beat it. Congrats for the both habits, food and exercise!

They are considering primary radiation treatment, since I still have my prostate. My cancer is inoperable since it has spread out the back of prostate into my right lymph node and both sides of my pelvis,

You and your husband are not alone, bella! There are many, many survivors of Stage 4 on this forum - and elsewhere.
The single most important thing you can do is choose a center of excellence or a well known hospital ( Mayo, Sloan, Cleveland, Dana Farber, etc) which deals with this on a daily basis; this is not the time to stay local, or close to home because it’s convenient.
It is your job to seek out the BEST care available so that your husband’s chances of survival are optimal. Cancer is NOT a death sentence - it has become a highly treatable chronic illness which offers patients many years of life.
Stay cool, stay calm and put you and your husband into the hands of those who specialize in this. This IS a bad dream - but remember that we always wake up from those and get the chance to greet a new day. Best
Phil
