I too have never heard of Evenity causing bone cancer. I have had 11 sets of shots. One in each arm each time. I experienced redness, pain and itching starting the fifth shots. Scared me. I called the infusion center. They suggested I take a Claritin a half hour prior to my shots. Since then, I have never had a reaction, only mild pain at the injection site that is gone in 24 hours. I did put on weight early on. I really think my appetite increased because I was eating more food. It could be that your body craves more food to build bone. I will have a bone density test the end of February. I am hoping for a gain.
@daisypuffmom I have never heard of Evenity causing bone cancer, and cannot find any reference to that on the website as a side effect or warning. The studies on cardiovascular risk, which is in a black box warning, showed no difference between Evenity and placebo and a small but statistically significant differencee with alendronate, possible becaue alendronate is protective.
Forteo and Tymlos had the warning about bone cancer but it has not proven to be a problem, as it was in rats on large doses.
Some meds increase calcium, some don't. You could ask your doctor or the providing pharmacist on this. I looked online and Evenity lowers calcium levels. Tymlos and Forteo raise calcium levels, very briefly (hours) after the injection.
