Hi. My primary care doctor does not want me to see a Neurologist. Don't get it. I have pain, burning and pins and needles in both legs and feet. Take 300mg Gabapentin 3 times a day with very results. Also have PAD in both legs with my left being extremely bad. Hoping my Cardiologist appointment will offer some hope to help relieve me of this terrible pain. Would love to hear from anyone with these conditions. Thank you. Karen

Welcome @caringkaren1, Sorry to hear you haven't found much relief for your neuropathy. There are other members who have mentioned having both PAD and neuropathy. Here's a search of Connect that lists the discussions and comments from the members having both PAD and neuropathy - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/looking-for-people-who-have-high-levels-of-b6-trigger-neuropathy/.

Hoping your cardiologist may be able to offer some treatment suggestions to help with the pain. When is your appointment?

I’m very sorry to read what you are going through. I’m saddened that your primary doctor doesn’t want you to see other specialists. I had exactly same problem with my orthopedic surgeon Dr who dismissed my pain and kept telling me it’s normal to be in pain after major broken bones surgery and after 6 months on Gabapentin and crying every day I had courage to call my insurance company and ask for a referral to see pain management specialist. You deserve a second opinion, 3rd-4th opinion with Different Doctor as longer as your insurance company pays? I would encourage you to ask one more time your doctor a referral to sake outside pain management specialist doctor or neurologist .In my case I had to go through 4 orthopedic doctor to figure out what is wrong with my foot ankle and leg I was told I should be walking after surgery within 3 months and now 13 months now I can barely stand up and walk and being yourself there great pain management specialist doctors out there i finally have diagnosis of CRPS . After 4th opion and Low lumbar spine and specialist ordered MRI which also showed bulging disc and L4,L5 and S1 pain. I will keep you in my prayers to find specialist Doctor who is willing to write you a referral so you can try other treatments and Doctors who treat Lower back pain, pinching pain and burning and pain management specialist are very good understanding your pain level. I’m very lucky after 1 year in 24/7 days in pain I found pain management specialist who help me with pain lumbar spine nerves block injection to relieve lower extremities pain and my leg pain manage pain so I can continue therapy, move around my house.
Keep us posted.
