I had a robotic prostatectomy 12 days ago. I need to ride 600 miles. Will it be okay?

How about a portable plastic urinal bottle to relieve yourself more frequently before you start to leak?

@surveyr, did you make the trip? How did it go? What tips would you offer anyone traveling a couple of weeks after surgery?

My Travel went pretty good
Anyone else traveling should make sure to plan on several stops to walk around
(2 or 3 hrs apart)

I needed an RP. I told my doctor we had a trip planned to Vegas. He waited to have my surgery until after my trip, saying that we would have to wait a number of weeks if I’m had my RP before the trip. Good luck!

I did travel shortly after a RP, I was a bit uncomfortable, made many stops, and wore the a maximum absorbency pad . I also brought a plastic bottle all went well. I also agree with surveyr walking around helps.

I went on a road trip almost 30 days after my surgery, an 8 hour drive broken up into 2 days. My surgery was Nov-27-24, I took a road trip on Dec-26-24.

I had some issues and you may too. It is important to know (I was not informed of this) that you will begin passing blood clots and blood at about 12 days, shortly after the catheter is out. The first one for me was unsettling. A scab about an inch long followed by lots of blood.

I contacted my Doctor directly through the messaging app and he assured me this is normal. This experience continued for about a week and then settled down.

When I went on the road trip I had another large discharge. It again was unsettling.

I bring this up because riding in a car or sitting still for that period of time along with the direct pressure on the scrotum will unsettle the area. I am now ok but am still restricted for another 6 weeks, no riding a lawn mower, tractor, bicycle etc and No Straddling of any other similar equipment.

Remember that all of the surgical "injuries" are inside you and there is no way to monitor that visually.

My suggestion would be to not travel that early, you will be getting the catheter out at 10 days and things will still be tender inside.

Good luck with your healing.
