I am glad you came through. Unfortunate to go through it, but very happy that you did.
There is an adjustment. There is anxiety - sure. But I would say it is less so now than it would have been had I known before my surgery.
Certainly a new perspective on life, wouldn't you say?
But while I question the reason behind it all, and the reason I came through, someone here reminded me that it must have been that I have a purpose. I was kept around for a special reason - I just have to find out what it is. So I have decided to be an advocate.
Where I am, no one knows about this stuff. There is no support, no groups, no one to talk to, no information. I had never heard about dissection and had a vague sense of aneurysms. I was that guy in the hospital with a thing that people rarely see.
Now I reach out, and I try to connect with others. Tell my story, but also try to find other survivors who have that shared understanding of what it means.
