My husband had a few vertigo attacks with Gem-Abraxane. First dose brought on an attack and that sorted itself out in a few days with medication. Thereafter, he had a few giddy spells but not severe. However 6 months later, he had a prolonged attack of 3 weeks. That also stopped with medication. So far no other attacks. But it seems to be a side effect of the chemo for him and when his red blood cells are low. We try to make sure he has some sugar in him daily (like a small slice of cake, fruit, raisins etc) rather than keep away from sugary stuff completely.
Has he had his vitamin D level checked? The reason I ask is because the physical therapist my husband saw for the vertigo issue mentioned that it could be caused by a vitamin D deficiency. MSK's blood work did not include checking vitamin D level, so he had his primary care doctor order it and it was severely low, like practically non existent! He started taking a vitamin D supplement and did not have any more vertigo issues. It might be worth looking into. I hope he gets some relief soon.
