It can be very discouraging not being able to hear. My life story- uncle born deaf- mom nerve deafness- me multiple tympanoplastys with holes in both eardrums. Wore hearing aids until 5 years ago. Wax impaction was getting to be a problem with the hearing aids and my ear wax has to be suctioned/ dug out every 3 months. And then there is always someone that has some type of a joke! I seriously prefer one on one conversation and have told my husband of 40 years that he needs to face me as I read lips pretty well. I know things could be worse! Eustation tube defect is the probable cause of all my hearing issues. I really feel for anyone with hearing issues! Hang in there.

On another note has anyone on this site heard anything about human trials being conducted to try to regrow damaged hair cells in the inner ear?
CI’s and hearing aids keep improving but that would be life changing for so many millions of people around the world.
