Klonopin Use

I was only on it for 7 months. But after roughly 6 weeks I noticed changes to my central nervous system. My one eye began doing weird twitching and I began to notice almost constant body buzzing and tremors while I walked and while I slept. Freaked me out as I wondered what might be going on, MS/Parkinsons etc. Went to eye doc who said my eyes were good, couldn't find anything. Asked the sleep doc and he downplayed the drug having any effects such as this (found out later through a lot of research it can indeed). I went to primary and he freaked out when I told him of my symptoms and that a sleep doc gave me this to help me sleep. First thing was this is the last thing for sleep, he must be an old guy. I laughed and said, yes, he's older than me, and I was 65 at the time (67 now). He said no younger guy is going to give you this stuff. I should have stopped then but it did help me sleep but my symptoms got worse and I stopped cold turkey after 7 months as I was having tremors most of the day and night. I did go to a neurolgist just to make sure and he found nothing wrong with me but couldn't understand why he gave me klonopin. After stopping my eye issues cleared up within a week, never to return. However, my body buzzing and nightly tremors were bad. The daytime buzzing stopped after 6 or so months but nightly tremors continued for about 18 months after stopping medication. I could feel them slowly ease over the many months. I stopped cold turkey which I know is bad but did it because I was already being badly affected by it anyway. Best of luck!

On a dose of .5mg a day? Crazy. How long did it take to recover after quitting cold turkey?

Been on this drug for 30 years. All Benzos are addictive. All of us are different, & unlikely any 2 people have the same experience with side effects. I was taking 2 mgs a day for sleep & anxiety (15 yrs.) weened down to 1 a day with help of my family doc. It has to be done slowly to be successful. Never had need or desire to go back up. Knew I was physically addicted however. Intended to go to .5, then off, but life events happened & I needed the 1mg per day. I take half around noon & half before bed. Often I forget to take the noon dose, so just take the night dose. The next day I know that I missed a dose, as I can feel it. (The half life of the drug has gotten too low), but I don’t need to make up for the missed dose.) it is dangerous to go off any dose cold turkey. Google this & u will find it can cause a lot of unwanted effects including seizures. Be happy to discuss more of my experiences with K, but they may not be yours.
