Has anyone had a failed spinal fusion? What can be done?
I am almost 6-months post-op from having had a Lumber spinal fusion (L3-4-5). I am experiencing a lot of pain in my spine and across my lower back. I'm fearful that I may have the signs of a failed spinal fusion. I would like to hear from those who may have experienced this.

@jennirob01 I’m finally getting the permanent band aid ( pain stimulator ) put in Tuesday January 14th . Hopefully it works as good as the trial, I’m sure praying it helps with the tailbone nerves so my feet don’t go numb when laying down the trial didn’t help that. My family doctor suggested trying an osteopathic dr instead of a chiropractor after I get the stimulator put in Tuesday.
I will be praying for you! How long is the recovery time for the stimulator?
@jennirob01 I think around 6 weeks, I can’t do no lifting, bending or twisting until I see the doctor 2 weeks later.
Yes, failed or surgery done correct, you will have pain all your life. PT and exercise that hurts like hell, actually help the next few days. You will have to exercise and PT every few days for the rest of your life. The only good thing is you hopefully will not walk with your back and neck stooped over. For me I guess it is worth it.
xxx MY PAIN xxx
My “pain”, at 9 mths ago, had a neurosurgery on my (sorry, my memory brain has hitten of 80% of my use12 years ago from an accident) T5, T6, T7 (or so) fixed that lower-back area including the very-top area of my rear-ends. What happened first?
xxx WHY? xxx
I fell one of my corage (sp?) and hit both rear-ends, 2.5 years-ago and lost of cutting grass, fixing outside at our house, picking up slot of stuff, and on. … falling down dozens-a-day from pain, falling-down in my back… thankfully not. 90% of my head, BUT…
xxx WHAT HELPED ME? xxx
9 mths ago, my surgery FIXED & HELPED me,…the pain was gone, but my balance is gone on the right-leg so falling down is still here. Hitting my brain accident hits bad stuff. Thankfully, from those 9-mths dents better, but still there.
Thx,

Praying your surgery was smooth and you are recovering comfortably tonight.
I posted earlier that my neurosurgeon fused my lumbar spine out of alignment. He sent my case to a forum of surgeons dealing with spinal deformity. I lean forward at the waist and he says that is from the failed fusion. Well the general consensus of the surgeons was, fusion from cervical spine to sacrum. I am not doing that even though I am in pain. I think I want the hardware out. He says he doubts it will make a difference. Guess I have to modify things now that I know this is permanent. I am 73. Still have to work.
Having CATscan tomorrow.
I would find a good Pain Management DR.!!! Research them very carefully!!!
I have failed Laminectomy and failed Fusion, PAIN SO BAD! I have a Pain Pump, I would look into that, it helps!!!! No more back surgeries!!!! Usually gets worse. I would not take a chance!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!
