pinkpam made the post about a hip liner lasting 29 years.

Stryker now uses a material called Tritanium (I think that word is their copywriter). The implant, in this case the liner that sits in the pelvis and is cup shaped, is 3D printed. The very outer layers are porous metal that allows the bone to bond with the plant. Note this only works with healthy bone. If a patient had osteoporosis then cement is used to attach the new cup to the pelvis.
