I used two Tramadol plus 2 Gabapentin when I first developed spinal stenosis. I wouldn't have survived the pain if I hadn't. After the operation i tried desperately to get off it. Bad mistake. I took Advil on the recommendation of my doctors. I only took 3 a day. I forgot to read the part that you should only take it for 3 days. I ended up in emergency with what my doctor said was a minor heart attack. It scared the living daylights out of me. I now take Tramadol with Acetamafin up to 3 times a day. I only have problems when I forget to take it because I'm feeling normal. Then I'm miserable for a day or so until the medication builds up in my system. I've decided that at my age (86) who cares if I become addicted. Being painfree, functional and happy is more important. I've too much to do to be aflicted with pain. and unable to carry on an active life. I'm involved with several organizations and working on building one up from scratch. I think Tramadol is like any other medication. What works for one, doesn't work for another. In my view, finally, when you are a "certain age" if you are happy, functioning on your own, and living independently, don't worry about becoming dependent on opioids. I wish I had taken that attitude after my operation. I would've spent fewer days in pain. Happy New Year everyone! My sympathies to my southern neighbours and relatives who are experiencing horrible weather events including fires!
I’ve been on Tramadol since 2008 about a year after my stem cell transplant…. Per trauma to my disc L4/5…. Orthopedic wanted to put rods up my back & I said no! Both my sisters have had this done & still have back issues…. I was put on tramadol because not being able to use nsaids because of my amyloidosis diagnosis & subsequent stem cell transplant…. I did go on a lower dose of 37.5/325 Tylenol & now take one twice a day…. I stay active & just had my 78th birthday…. I’m sure it’s addictive, but I had no choice at the time & it’s just been in recent years that it’s been reclassified as an opioid….
Zilch.
