I had swollen hands before my PMR was treated with prednisone. At that time I had actually lost weight but could not remove my wedding ring. Now I am just off the prednisone, the same weight, and my wedding ring is so loose, it will not stay on. The pain I endured in my hands was not worse than elsewhere in my body and was eliminated with prednisone. Only the original osteoarthritis remains.

I’ve had the same problems with my fingers and rings. My joints in some of my fingers have nodes and my rings won’t fit over them. I recently had a 12 pound weight loss from an illness that made my wedding ring very loose! So I bought a smaller, inexpensive gold band to wear after I put my wedding band on. It holds it in place so it won’t fall off.. They also make silicone wedding bands that you can find on Amazon that come in different colors and sizes and you can wear in a larger size until your finger swelling goes down and you can wear your regular wedding band, or use it to hold your wedding ring in place! Very cute and inexpensive—around $10 for 8 rings in different colors. Company is called Egnaro rings and if you get the wrong size they will send you a new pack for free. Very good customer service.
