Pelvic Washing: Atypical, rare atypical epithelial cells
Has anyone who was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, FIGO Grade 1, gotten the results of their peritoneal (pelvic) washing that was performed as part of the total hysterectomy?
I have not gotten any post-surgical biopsy results, but the pelvic washing came in yesterday and it says that it is correlated with the surgical pathology specimen (which I don't have).
What should I expect from this diagnosis? Should I be alarmed? Will I need more diagnostic surgery or even chemo?
Specifically it says only:
Pelvic Washing: Atypical, Rare Atypical Epithelial Cells Present.
nothing else in the diagnosis.

@njp515 I had a radical hysterectomy following a diagnosis of Endometroid Adenocarcinoma FIGO Grade 1. It is my understanding that pelvic washings are analyzed and mine certainly. I got the pathology report on the hysterectomy several days before I received the pelvic washings pathology report. As I recall the reports were from two different pathologists.
I honestly do not know how to understand the pathology results of your pelvic washings. I know what epithelial cells are and that these are cells that line internal organs and structures such as the colon and the abdomen. I’m afraid I can’t be of any help in interpreting was is meant by atypical and rare.
