Hello. I am new here. My husband was recently diagnosed with nets.
Hello, I am new to the discussion. My husband was recently diagonosed with nets starting from the pancreas. We are still processing this. Are there any net dr specialists in San Diego that you can recommend?
Thank you

I just checked and UCSD has a NETs program with a full multidisciplinary team of specialists. Paul Fanta MD is the medical oncologist for NETs and GI cancers including pancreatic. You might start there. Prayers for you and your husband.
Thank you so much! He is the one that keeps popping up the most when I search. We have Sharp, but I think it is a good idea to get another opinion on the situation or see a Specialist. Praying so much for a good outcome.
It also seems that Scripps has net specialists. Just wasn't sure which one to try first. UCSD may be bettrr. Thank you
LACNETS is a great resource for information. They may have a list of local specialists. I've been to a presentation they were involved in in Salt Lake City and it was very informative and helpful.
Thank you for the info!
Scripps and UCSD are both good systems. Maybe talk to both.
@laree for you
Great idea by Steve to contact LACNETS.org They not only have valuable info, but they will hook you up with others that have pancreatic NETs and since they are based in Los Angeles they may have personal experience with both Scripps and UCSD. In fact, the Director of Programs, Lisa Yen NP, is with the LACNETS program because her husband has had pancreatic NETs for 10 years. She will be a fantastic resource for you. She’s very nice and helpful. Lots of helpful videos on their website too.
Thank you! I am glad there seems to be alot of resources out there. (Also trying not to go down tbe rabbit hole if you know what I mean?) Try to find ways not to think about this 24/7.
Thanks so much for all the help.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. We also lived in California when my husband was first diagnosed with pnet in 2008. You’re fortunate in that there are many net specialists in California and it is crucial that he seek care from a net specialist. General oncologists usually don’t have the required knowledge and experience to properly treat this still rare form of cancer. Lacnets is an excellent resource. You can also find a list of specialists in California at

Best of luck to your husband!
Thank you Lindabees! Our emotions are all over the place right now. I hope there is hope for this diagnosis. It is pnet from the pancreas to the liver, stage 3 it sounds like. We will be having our appt soon.
