My limited understanding is that MAC refers to the multiple types of infections that fall under the big umbrella of MAC.
The MAI designates the particular infection under the big umbrella of MAC. C meaning Complex.
NJH has a video that has been posted on one of the threads on this Mayo Clinic Connect about it all. It is a talk Dr. Daily from NJH gives. I think it is under a tread of treating MAC.
