Nausea medications for chemo nausea side affects?

This is a sticky situation and I can't imagine how awful he must feel. If he can keep the coffee down, I wonder if using a vanilla flavored protein shake in stead of milk will get a couple extra calorie him.

Do keep a written list of the foods he does eat to show the doctor. Maybe that would help them better understand what the issue is. My oncologist gave me Zofran that melts under my tongue and it's fast acting. Ask your doctor if something like that could be taken to prevent the nausea from hitting while eating.

Get a second opinion at a teaching hospital like Mayo.

Thank you for your concern. I will definitely be calling the doctor tomorrow. They should have a dietian or nutritionist that can give us suggestions. Have a good day.

Thanks for replying. His doctor did give him zofran and Zyprexa I picked them up yesterday. The compazine did not seem to work for him. HOpefully these new pills will work. The thing that makes me upset, is that he will not drink any water. I offered to make him peppermint tea with honey but he said no. Any of the things I have read about helping nausea he refuses to do. I know he has to be dehydrated. But when he throws up, it is mostly pleghm. Of course, he does not have much in his stomach. He did try ginger ale but he threw up after drinking it. I told him to sip it. Whether or not he did, I don't know. He makes things hard for himself and me.
