D-Mannoose and UTI prevention

Everyone has been very generous in sharing experiences with juices, supplements and vitamins for the prevention and treatment of UTI. Someone mentioned flushing out the kidneys with good hydration. That reminded me of a situation when I was really little. I was 5 or 6 years old and ended up hospitalized with something called “nephritis”. Wow did everybody push fluids (WATER) at that time. A carafe on the bedside table and constantly prompting me to empty the glass, then refilling it. One day I got so tired of it I emptied all right; ON THE FLOOR! After that, mercifully my older brother suggested that other beverages might be acceptable. He would buy me milk shakes from the hospital cafeteria and the nurses / doctors allowed me to have them. I’m NOT suggesting that milk shakes are a good treatment for UTI. This is just a sweet memory. I still resist plain water to this day (I’m 68 now) but I do know that good hydration is important.

I have nephritis and drink 60+ oz of water/day. I'm 67 and have genital menopausal syndrome (GMS). I had a hysterectomy and ovaries removed when I was in my 30s. Had breast cancer and took tamoxifen. My estrogen levels dried up. This creates a breeding ground for bacteria, so I'm on estradiol, which recently I've been applying every day. GMS is a huge problem for post menopausal women and almost ignored by the medical community. It is recently getting more attention. I hate to say this, but I learned more about it on YouTube (from Mayo and Cleveland Clinic specialists) than I did from my own local Drs.
