I was diagnosed with MAC and bronchiectasis in 2009. Took Azithromycin, Rifampin, and Ethambutol MWF for three years, then 250 mg Azithromycin for 9 years. Never got rid of MAC.

In 2021, I went to Mayo Clinic for consultation. After bronchoscopy, my pulmonologist there prescribed Azithromycin (500 mg), Rifampin (600 mg) and Ethambutol (800 mg) daily. In 2023, the Ethambutol dose was increased to 1000 mg because blood tests showed 800 mg was not therapeutic. This month, I started nebulizing Arikayce. I will be on Arikayce for one year beyond my third negative sputum test.

You've had a very long journey with MAC, maybe the longest I've read about so far. And that's a lot of years to be on the three antibiotics. How did you react to them? I've "only" been taking them for six months so far, and I want to nap half the week. How are you handling the Arikayce?
I appreciate your sharing this information.
