@celia16 I so wish that our culture and society in North America would encourage more openness about anxiety and depression. Many of us and include myself have a predisposition to anxiety. It took me a long time throughout adulthood to figure out how my experienced anxiety resulted in maladaptive ways of living my life. A situation with as much ambiguity as you describe makes it difficult to adapt day-by-day. I went through something similar with my parents at different times in their lives. I finally realized that I could make my parents do something they did not want to do. I experienced sleepless nights and symptoms in my physical body such as GI symptoms that were all related to their situations. I wanted to be helpful but also had to finally figure out how to step back, Of course some of the stepping back resulted in crises in which my brother and I had to step right back in.

Back to talking openly about anxiety. This forum allows us to do just that but I'm hoping that we can open up about how we feel to others in our day-to-day lives.

All my best to everyone here as we all negotiate anxiety.

I agree. I told my therapist how my mom and I had several heartfelt conversations last week and it was freeing. I don’t think she liked it, but it had to be done. Boundaries are important. It’s amazing how much better I feel. Sleep is better…digestion on track everyday since Thursday last week.
