Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) are prescribed medications that stop most estrogen production in the body, such as: Letrozole (Femara), Anastrozole (Arimidex), Exemestane (Aromasin).

AIs work by preventing aromatase from making estrogen for treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, such therapy can be given to reduce the risk of the cancer coming back.
