Waiting is hard especially with the many unknowns.
While your timeline and order may vary, in my case Mayo did surgery approximately 6 weeks after the pathology reports - Colorectal surgeons got me first in Feb 2021, then Oncology did body scans looking for other potential malignancies.
My surgery ended up taking out the entire colon and 108 surrounding lymph nodes of which 12 were malignant. Rated as Stage 3C.
The scans found about a dozen suspicious spots - numerous liver and kidney cysts, unidentifiable spots on my lungs and thyroid nodules. Mayo Oncology recommended adjuvant chemo as an outpatient even the surgeons were confident they got it all. Started chemo about 8 weeks after surgery and finished 8 months later - had required a few extra rest/recovery weeks.
I had quarterly blood work and scans for 2.5 years with none of the suspicious things changing over the time.
I'm no longer doing scans, just regular blood work every 6 months or monitor what's going on.
This is to offer some knowledge of what you're facing and comfort that it is likely treatable.
All my best.
