@heavyphil

That is terrible - have you consulted with anyone on this?

Thank you for your advice! I've consulted a lot of people. I've seen the Library of Congress, the Royal Library of England on the Internet. Australian library and related doctors and professors, I may be 6-7% of incontinence.

Try to get referred to a urologist for an artificial urinary sphincter.
That's what I'm being assessed for in a couple of months.
Reported 90% success rate. Look it up online. Sounds like the solution for both of us.
Don't just accept your current position.

Here we do artificial urethral sphincter treatment is not safe, the longest is ten years, there are many twists and turns in the middle. I have done Kegel exercises for more than a year, and now I have done pelvic floor muscle exercises for nearly four months, but when I left the hospital, I leaked urine 100%, and now I am 20% restrained at night!

Perhaps come to the US? Don’t know your $$ situation, but if what you are going through is worse than death, take out a loan.
We always borrow $$ for ridiculous things….how about comfort, ease and peace of mind? There are so many men on this forum you could speak with to get recommendations.

I am a Chinese with a low income. I was very scared after prostate cancer surgery. How could this happen? I want to regain control of urination through my exercise.
I really want your support!

All we can do is offer you emotional support and information. If you live in a part of the world where the surgery is substandard and your finances ate limited it is difficult to advise you on how best to proceed.

I'm in a different situation, because mine is all free.
Maybe there was damage to the urethra or bladder during surgery.
A cystoscopy may be able to determine that. Doesn't sound like a fun procedure, but it might help.

I always had extra Depends pads or the depends underwear in my truck and car . And carried an extra pad in my jacket Always wore dark jeans or dress pants. Won’t show has bad if you leak urine . Occasionally my bladder let go and you are wet.. jeans will be soaked also. Be a good idea to have another pair of jeans in your vehicle. If you’re not any better in keeping dry after 1 month talk to your dr about seeing a Physical Therapist to get more bladder control. Might help. I leaked all the time. Just drying off after a shower urine ran out of me. My surgeon said do nothing for 3 months.. no lifting grocery bags no pull starting mower . blower . Weed eater. Had my neighbors mowed for 3 months.. I went for a walk first thing in morning and leaked a lot then took shower and than took another shower before I went to bed. Hope you get control of your bladder .. I did not .

At the outset, everyone's journey is different. My urologist said my incontinence would improve and it did. However, 7 years post surgery, I still fall into that 5% -10% bracket of men that will remain incontinent. I did my kegels faithfully at the beginning but admit that I am no longer as diligent as I should be. I had a cystoscopy (it was pain-free) and it indicated that my external sphincter muscle was on the short side and was not up to the task. An AUS device was recommended but I found the whole idea to be distasteful. I am dry overnight and could live with my one Depend diaper and maximum Guard pad per day. I am currently 82 and still reasonably active; playing squash, golfing. exercising twice a week and skiing at Whistler. Unfortunately, in January 2024, 18 months after my salvage radiation my leakage increased and I am now having to use two pads and be much more diligent in changing pads, although I am still dry overnight. I discussed the change in my incontinence with my physiotherapist and she commented that salvage radiation can lead to a change in one's incontinence up to two years after treatment. There are a couple of research papers supporting that conclusion. Despite this setback, I am still currently cancer-free, reasonably active and hope to see my granddaughter graduate from university. A final comment; it would be nice if there were some current statistics about how many men suffer from incontinence after a RP with or without salvation radiation.

I had surgery 15 years ago and had no incontinence problems. 3 1/2 years later, it came back so I had salvage radiation, I still had no incontinence problems. About five years after radiation the incontinence problems started. At first I only needed a thin pad in my underwear. As of a couple of years ago, I needed a thick pad, but it’s been 10 years now and it hasn’t gotten worse.

I’m now taking a pill called myrbetriq Which has helped Reduce the incontinence.

Gemtesa also helps reduce incontinence.
