I was just prescribed Horizant. I believe it’s Gabapentin with an additive. I am waiting for it to arrive from the Truax company in Minnesota. I currently take 900MG of Gabapentin at night, but it no longer helps with the pain and discomfort .
@cgs
3600 mg isn't the absolute max dose of Gabapentin. I've had doctors say it's side effect dependent. I knew of a guy taking 7200 mg. with no side effects.
Lyrica may be an good option. Neither on helped me.
What is you physician recommending?
Jake
My Dr says 2700mg is all he recommends I don't get too many side effects ,,dry mouth ..but I drink a lot of water keep a bottle by bed
May try pregabalin
A nurse from a pain clinic said Cymbalta is slow but sure after a couple months and works for decades
She works with a lot of veterans she said

I transitioned off Lyrica to Gaba and currently on 900mg, three times daily. A move to 1,200mg is the most the producer recommends. Doctor has me moving to Vimpat.
Two things-I am not a doctor & this drug like many are dosed to achieve successful results based on the particular ailment. My top level may not match yours.
May I ask what are you taking it for? I have CIPN and along with gabapentin I take Duloxetine and I notice if I miss a dose of that, im miserable ALL day. Duloxetine and Gabapentin go great together for me. It is also called Cymbalta but I have been taking both now for about.... 2 years come February 2025.
I tried Pregabalin and had HORRIBLE side effects. Like memory loss, BAD depression. Its on my allergy list
Pregabalin was my initial treatment. I reached a point where it no longer prevented pain even with the increased dosage. Made the change to Gabapentin probably 2.5 years ago. Will cycle off Gaba. in a few months. More pain is creaping in daily and the short term memory loss is no joke for me. That is real. 🙂
I was looking at claim info from my drug Rx insurance carrier. They showed provider paid $2279 Another claim showed that they paid $2279 and a second entry for about $101. My cost was around$135 or so. Picked up my last refill of the year today. 270 75mg capsules was about $37. I asked the pharmacist about the $2279 and she thought that was OOP for Lyrica. I take PreGabalin which is a much cheaper generic. I can't imagine shelling out almost $2300 for a 3 month's supply of brand name.
Gabapentin has worked 100% for me except when I get off schedule
I am maxed out on 2700 mg
For my sore feet at night, I find that Vicks Vaporub works best.
