Any feedback on Lyrica for PN would be appreciated

Had double lumbar fusion 3 years back. Resulting in PN in both my feet. Any suggestions regarding Lyrica or gabapentine

I took up to the max dose of Gabapentin (3,600 mg.) It didn't help my neuropathy or seizures. Lyrica didn't help me either.
Gabapentin gives my brother a lot of relief from neuropathy. I've always wondered if it has anything to do with what caused the neuropathy a person has. My neuropathy is believed to have been caused by long term seizure medications whereas my brothers was caused by severe damage when his legs were crushed and his femoral arteries severed. I have a friend who has fibromyalgia, and she swears by Lyrica. Different things work for different people.
I would suggest if you're given 900, 1200, 1800 mg that doesn't help you may want to ask about increasing the dosage provided you don't have or can tolorate any side effects.
Best of luck to you,
Jake

I have taken pregabalin (Lyrica) for almost a year. When I went up to 300mg it worked very well for 4 months. Then completely stopped working. Leavitt had an increased dose of 450mg. Have an appointment with my new neurologist in about four weeks going to either get off of it completely or add something to it to see if it helps.

I was up to 400mg of Lyrica for many years - it makes you gain weight plus other side effects. I now take LDN- low dose naltrexone for pain- not numbness & I’m down to 100mg of LDN. Hope to be off it completely soon. Learn more about it here:

A typical dose of LDN is 4.5 mg. Are you sure you’re taking 100 mg?

I've had idiopathic peripheral neuropathy for about 20 years now. First drug I used was Gabapentin. Gradually worked up to maximum daily dose of 3600 mg but it wasn't really giving enough relief to be at all functional. Went to see a different pain specialist and went from Gabapentin to Lyrica. Marginal Improvement but nothing exciting. Then Dr asked if I had tried Duloxetine which is Cymbalta, and I had not. Cymbalta was added to the Lyrica and I felt a significant Improvement. This was back in 2011. Pain has gradually continued to increase or else I have built up an immunity to treatment. My current medications are 600 mg of Lyrica, 90 mg of Cymbalta, 40 mg of oxycodone, 2500 mg of Tylenol and almost constant use of a spinal cord stimulator. Tonight I was looking at pain pumps and Mayo Clinic popped up so thought I would drop into this forum again. I got a prescription for medical marijuana that I never filled because it's not covered by insurance or Medicare now. I think I'm about down to the bottom of the well as far as options go. I've also tried other things over the years that really had no effect for me like acupuncture or a compounded ketamine cream that was made at Mayo Clinic but none of those really did anything. Unfortunately it seems to be hit and miss for what might or might not offer any relief not only from one individual to another but also at different time periods for a single individual. Best wishes that you find something to help

Lyrica gave me negative thoughts. I have been on gabapentin for years. For me it is a necessary but not sufficient
drug. I take 900 units daily and 15 mg of oxycodone 4 times a day. That just gets me by with almost tolerable pain. jeff

Look into Calmare Scrambler Therapy. It has helped many people with neuropathy…..

I was taking Lyrica 450mg for several years to bring pain under control after terrible withdrawal from Clonazepam. I have central sensitisation which is neuropathic pain all over the body. Because I completely changed my lifestyle as medically advised, the CS has entirely subsided after 6 years. I am now on just 25mg of Lyrica and will come off completely in Feb. Lyrica saved my life but I did put on weight but I have been on a keto diet and have lost 10kg. Lots of people don’t stick with Lyrica as it can give you dark thoughts but I had no choice due to extreme pain.

Just entering the war. Diabetes 15+years with only a bit of toe numbness. Started getting severe calf pain at night. (Peripheral neuropathy diagnosis.) Doctor recommended 50 mg Lyrica 6 months ago and it helps a lot. But I have gained 20 lbs and have already had to double the dosage. I take it at bedtime and it has helped the pain but I wake up every 2 hours. Afraid to take it in the morning as I don’t want to become a zombie. I’ve quit walking the dogs as my legs feel exhausted.
