Suggestions for an adjustable weighted vest for bone strengthening?
I think it was a member of this forum who mentioned having a vest that could have added weights added. If so, could that person or others who have one recommend a specific brand of vest to purchase? I am off Reclast at present for my osteoporosis and am interested in add more weight bearing help. Thank you.

I love wearing my best. It’s well balanced, and the jeres no forward flexion. Maybe it’s the ‘type’ of vest. Mine was recommended on the Better Bones website.
I too have started wearing a weighted belt in the pool for jumping and a vest for walking/intermittent jogging. I use 5-6 lbs on land for 2-3 miles.
I also try to do 100 squats (broken into segments of 20 or 30 at a time).
So far all is fine but my knees do ache the following day so I’m putting on my knee supports.
Not on medication, yet. Although I’m advised to.
Cutting back some on sugar and alcohol.
Taking NativePath Bone Health collagen daily (with fortibone).
I will check after the new year I’d anything’s improved.
I am just over the border of osteopenia .
I want to know if wearing a weighted vest for walking can help improve bone density. What are the pros and cons. Has anyone had success with this?
I’m also interested in this.
I was -1.8 in my spine and wore a 10 lb weighted vest for a year and took another DEXA and was -.2 but I also improved my diet, exercised and took supplements because I didn’t want to take medicine for osteoporosis/osteopenia. I overworked my muscles and injured myself which caused tingling in my hands and feet. I had a pinched nerve somewhere along my neck and have not worn the vest because it weighs the shoulders down and puts pressure on the nerve. After my injury heals I plan to wear the vest again. I wore it for about an hour while walking my dog.
Thank for your experience. I have a question...so have you wondered if the vest caused the pinch nerve? I am concerned about that very problem...I don't want to cause a compression fracture from a weighted vest...If you have knowledge of your pinched nerve being caused by something other than the vest?
I have a question that I have not seen or heard anyone speaking about. I weigh only 105 pounds and want to begin a good walking program (3-4 MPH) and was wondering 2 things. Does the terrain, or walking surface affect bone growth? For instance, does walking on pavement or concrete versus a hard packed dirt walking trail such as a rails-to-trail surface affect bone growth? In my imagination I would think that the harder the surface the better it is for bone growth....but I'm no expert. Also..along that area...do shoes make a difference? There are SO many choices in fitness shoes...from ultra padded to minimalist zero gravity shoes. Again, I am wondering if the minimalist shoes (with little to no padding) help to build bone as the heel hits the ground surface harder....I want to maximize my efforts to build bone. I too have had success with natural products (Garden of Life Vitamin Code Grow Bone System) to have better bones in the past. I do not want to take medicine for bone growth. I sadly stopped taking the supplements a few years ago but now I have begun again and hoping to increase my bone density again. If anyone has any knowledge of these questions regarding walking surface and choice of footwear I would truly appreciate your findings. Thank you!
I’ve had nerve issues before so I don’t t think it was the weighted vest that was the cause. PT had me so exercises that aggravated my nerves more. I would start in even ground to get used to the added weight before trying rugged terrain.
Can you share what weighted vest you wear? Thanks!
I am also looking to start walking with a weighted vest and looking for recommendations from those who have used them to reverse/slow osteoporosis. thanks in advance
Don't know if I should spend a lot of money on one. There is a big range in prices online.
