Chemotherapy ...Scared

Chemo: go for it! is not as bad as it sounds!
Did 6 rounds of docetaxel, you need to be careful and follow doctor instructions, but, I was able to continue life, work, some exercise (walking). Did not loose my hair (but some, but it’s not important either) , did not have ANY nausea/stomach /vomiting issues, my only side effect was lot of sleepiness day of the therapy and mainly because of the anti allergic medication.

Good side effects: due to my wife strict diet , ultra healthy and eventually days of the therapy you eat less you will lose some pounds

Whatever your gleason score is : Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion .
I speak from experience . My 1st Transpernineal MRI Fusion Biopsy was Begign ( Negative )
The 2nd Biopsy Gleason 6 A 2nd Opinion Upgraded to Gleason 3 +4 =7 and the 3rd Opinion ( on my 2nd biopsy ) changed again fro 6 cores G6 , then G7 were changed to : 4 Cores G6 and 2 cores G 3 +4 = 7 Take your pick .
When it comes to analyzing a prostate biopsy " " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder " -- It's very subjective . Let's hope for more accurate interpretations in the future with AI

Having worked with AI on-and-off for decades, I wouldn't expect it to do interpretation and diagnosis itself (it's bizarrely wrong too often, and we can't even trace back and figure out why); instead, it's useful for turning up extra things for humans to evaluate by spotting patterns in huge bodies of data (more than a human could look at).

I tell people to treat AI like an over-enthusiastic intern who's always sticking a head into your office saying "look what I found!" "look at this!".

Most of the time you'll just smile politely and try not to roll your eyes, but every once in a while it will turn up something genuinely useful.

My PSA increased from 4.5 to 5.7, so a urologist recommended an MRI. The report indicated that there is a high probability of cancer. I’m scheduled for a biopsy. Someone told me that a biopsy will likely cause the cancer to spread. Has anyone heard this? Another friend told me that there is less than a one percent chance of that occurring. I’m 67 and in good health otherwise. Thank you guys for any assistance.

I have Never heard of a problem with a biopsy causing the cancer to spread. You might ask the person Who told you that where they got that information.

That crap is all over the internet and it also made me nervous when I first came across it. They talk about the biopsy needles “seeding” the body cavity and some quacks claim they can “track” the path of the biopsy needles by observing cancer cells in their path.
It’s all bullshit - just another moronic musing that gets picked up and parroted ad infinitum until it becomes a truth.
There is ZERO evidence that prostate biopsies cause cancer- but decades of evidence proving that prostate cancer can kill you….your choice.

Thank you for checking in. Yes, I had the biopsy, and I now know the results: T2 and Grade Group 3. From what I have read, it's normal to experience fear, anger, disbelief and sadness ... all of which I have experienced. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle my entire life and participated in sports forever (surfing, Ironman triathlons, weight training, etc.) Plus, I have been a vegetarian for more than 30 years. (I am now 67). I am scheduled for a second opinion w/The City of Hope. I have heard wonderful things about them, and they have been fantastic w/me thus far (nurse phone consultation). I want to get started on the treatment ASAP; thus far, I have not determined what the best option is.

I had not heard that either. Unfortunately, this person was pretty critical of USA physicians and anyone who wears bracelets and other jewelry that creates awareness of such diseases as cancer. Thus, I don't want to interact w/him anymore.
