Need Dr supportive of trying AlgaeCal instead of Prolia
I'm having a doosey of a time finding a doctor who is open to my using AlgaeCal Plus and Strontium boost as first line of treatment for Osteoporosis with compression fracture. They automatically want me to use Prolia and won't even look at the studies that I downloaded from AlgaeCal website. Is there anyone here who uses AlgaeCal in the New York (downstate) area that has a doctor that they would recommend?

@stubbornmom since you have a fracture, have you considered a bone builder like Forteo, Tymlos or Evenity? I had spinal fractures and chose Tymlos not only because it grows new bone but it helps healing.
Do you have an endocrinologist? My doctors would not prescribe Prolia in the context of fracture and in fact don't use it much at all due to the rebound effect when stopped. Prolia also affects the effectiveness of the bone building drugs so you could end up with only Reclast as an option once you stop.
I personally see AlgaeCal abnd Strontium boost as being legitimate options for osteopenia or perhaps for maintenance after meds. I have been told by Keith McCormick author of "Great Bones", that strontium works too slowly for those of us with fractures.
I hope you can go back to your doctor and discuss a bone builder! Do you have an endocrinologist?
I know of a great naturopth, but he's in NH 🙁 Why do you need a doctor to give you permission though (I'm in Canada so we just do what we want!). You can buy it straight from Algaecal! 🙂 Strontium really bothers my stomach though, so I avoid it. I"m also going to start bio-ID hormones.
@yogalisac you don't need a doctor to obtain strontium citrate, though it might be best to discuss it with a provider.
I was referring to bone building meds like Forteo, Tymlos and Evenity that require a doctor.
Is your doctor prescribing the bio identical
I’m interested in the name/contact info for the neuropath in NH. That’s where I leave & I’m just starting my search.
I don't have an endocrinologist but I certainly will get one. I will also also look into the Forteo, Tymlos and Evenity. Thank you so much!
I have been on Evenity for 10 months. I feel like my bones are stronger in my back. I won't know for sure until the end of February when I get my next Dexa. However, I am confident my bones are stronger. I use to have to go lay down after working in the kitchen for an hour. Now I can stand in the kitchen for hours making bread and cooking without having to go lay down!
