Invasive ductal carcinoma with lymph node and liver involvement
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September, invasive ductal carcinoma that had spread to my lymph nodes under my armpit. I’ve since then started a chemo regime and am supposed to have a double mastectomy, followed by radiation. However, as chemo started and my oncologist monitored my bloodwork, my liver was not liking the chemo. More tests followed and a tiny spot was found on my liver. My oncologist is amazing and very thorough and was honest in that she wasn’t sure what was going on, because the chemo has already sizably shrunk my breast cancer tumor and my scans two months ago checking for metastatic spread were clear. I’m full blown panicking waiting for the results of these scans while also trying to remain present for my two little kids, especially over the holiday. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I have lots of support but am really struggling thinking the cancer may have spread.

Wow, you’re really going through it! I’m not sure this is relevant, but here’s my story. I was diagnosed with triple positive ductal carcinoma initially, but during all the testing to see where your body is at, they thought they found something in my lungs. I had smoked and was ready to hear the worst. Instead, they found some weird tangled nodes that turned out to be nothing. Seeing how your body works is an amazing thing. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing your story! Here is to hanging onto hope that it is nothing serious.
HI! @kf2504:
I am so sorry for what you've been through lately! My heart and prayers go to you and your young children...
We truly feel your agony regarding "a tiny spot" was found on your liver. I, too, was diagnosed with IDC, but I am not any expert on this matter; however, based on my own experience, this tiny spot on the liver may turn out to be a benign cyst. During my own diagnosis-treatments plan stage of last November, they discovered via MRI "in the visualized upper abdomen, note is made of a well-defined oval-shaped 4.3 cm T2 bright partly visualized cystic in the left lobe of my liver"; however, this 4.3 cm stuff turns out to be an unknown cyst - deemed to be benign.
Please do not be distressed too much, my friend; I know this is hard, but please allow time for your care team to do further investigation; in the meantime enjoy your family with your lovely children & loved ones. My thoughts and prayers will be with you for the journey ahead...
Wishing you the best with peace, joy, love and hope from above and better health in the new year to come!
@kf2504, I hope you were able to enjoy the distractions of the holidays at least some of the time. Little children can help with that. But I bet while seeing their excitement and smiles, you were crying tears inside with worry.
How are you doing? Have you learned anything further from the scans?
