I was severely depressed over a medical condition. Paxil was a tremendous help for me. I too read the bad reviews. It takes at least two weeks to fully kick in but it was well worth the wait in my situation. I can't ever see me discontinuing this medication.
Good Luck!
I took it many years ago for anxiety disorder. It helped a lot. However it did cause weight gain. No matter how hard I tried i was unable to lose the weight until I stopped the medication.
Like most medication’s Paxil has different effects and efficacy for different people. We all metabolize meds differently and it seems one person‘s success can be another’s horror story.
But I have been taking Paxil for quite a while and find that it helps me combat anxiety, as an adjunct to other therapies that I use.
I’ve stayed at a fairly low clinical dose so as not to experience some of the negative side effects, but I’ve never had an issue arise from it that would make me discontinue it.
I consider it a good tool to have in my arsenal of things that help steady me in the midst of anxiety and my older depression.
In general, it’s been a good medication for me to help treat generalized anxiety and has also helped calm some of the associated psychogenic body aches and pains that sometimes accompany it.
Good luck.
