Since we're talking about feathers and such....question about my down comforter. Never thought it a problem because I tested negatively to down feathers, and it's oh so warm in winter. I cannot be completely objective on the topic. I am allergic to dust and mites and I suppose the down comforter attracts those even with a duvet cover. Anyone else give up their down comforters and notice any difference?

Yes, about 30 years ago we had to give up our beloved down comforters - we actually found some synthetic ones that were close, but over time I felt, even with covers, they also were dust/dander repositories. We now use lightweight fleece blankets that are washed and dried every 2 weeks, topped by 100% cotton (incl batting) quilts in cold weather.
