I am also on gabapentin as of a month ago. My GP prescribed it for a severe nerve pain in
my face. At first I thought it was a miracle! The nerve pain disappeared. Then - as all of
you know, the side effects started kicking in. Terrible edema that started in my feet and is
now north of my knees! My ankles are enormous. My legs are very painful. I can hardly
stand up. I know my GP was very concerned about the facial nerve pain and wanted to
get me some relief. But at what cost? I am preparing myself for dealing with having the facial
nerve pain again. P.S. I was most surprised to be given gabapentin. Until a month ago I
had only known it as a pain reliever for cats and dogs!
