Bioidentical hormones and breast cancer

Posted by naomid @naomid, May 20, 2023

Hi everyone, I had early stage one breast cancer 25 years ago and have been fine ever since. My tumor was fed by hormones. I am dealing with osteoporosis now and I've heard that bioidentical hormones can help bone density, but I know I have to be careful. Is there any data available on the risk of low dose bioidentical hormones in breast cancer survivors like myself? Any data that you can provide would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

Hi
I had to go off the anti depressant because of so many side effects. But i'm taking a natural supplement through my naturopath called 5htp which works like an antidepressant without side effects. You can stop it also without side effects.

@sue417 just saw your post. Does 5HTP help with hot flashes?

Hi
It does not. I have been using a product from A. Vogel called sage for 1 mth it's for hot flashes and they have decreased in intensity. It usually takes 3 mths for a natural supplement to work. My naturopath tested me. You can google the product. She also added a product from Living Alchemy called Ashwagonda for the nervous system. For me it's helped alot.

@sue417 Thank you for your response. I definitely will look those items up I had heard of Ashwagonda, but never really researched. I’m 72 @ end of month and still flashing and the intensity and frequency starting increasing, so thought I’d research again. Thank you again. Merry Christmas & blessings for a healthy new year.

Hi
It's a tough go without hormone support. I really miss my HRT I felt so good on it. We need so much more research for women with hormone positive cancer. I hope you find something to help.
Merry Xmas to you
