@afowler876 Is this a procedure recommended by your oncology surgeon for yourself or for a loved one? I’d like to offer my concern for being in the position to make such a huge decision as this.
Here is a video of Dr. Amanika Kumar from Mayo Clinic explaining what pelvic extenteration is and the reasons it is done. Dr. Kumar was my GYNOncology surgeon for a hysterectomy when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer.

You may also wish to consult docs at MD Anderson, where they have some innovative radiation treatments, using an MRI linac that has been shown to work very well on certain types of recurring gynaecological cancers. Very tolerable treatment without surgery. If you reach out to them with her records and pathology they can advise whether this would be suitable for her. Best of luck and my best wishes.
PS. You absolutely need to work with an excellent specialized cancer centre rather than your local docs and hospital.

@riverland889 I don't know of any doctors in Jacksonville at Mayo Clinic. If inquiring for myself or a member of my family I would start with my primary care provider or my local oncologist (if I had been treated locally for endometrial cancer) and ask for a referral to Mayo Clinic. That's how I first was seen at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. My gynecologist referred me after I first had the diagnosis of endometrial cancer.
You can self refer at this link. Or as I mentioned above you can ask your doctor to refer you for a second opinion.

Yes, yesterday I had a telemedicine appointment with a doctor I was so impressed with (at Mayo, Jacksonville, as I live in FL). He was extremely knowledgeable about women with recurrent endometrial cancer, especially like mine, MMR deficient. He said I was on the right track with my current oncologist, and my immunotherapy treatment, which is why I wanted another opinion, just to make sure. I feel very good going forward. His name for any interested is Gerardo Colon-Otero, MD.

I'm continuing with the immunotherapy drug, Jemperli; it is a 30 min infusion once every 3 weeks, I've had 3 so far and doing well. End of jan if all still is good I will switch to once every 6 weeks.
I’m new here and after 2.5 years battling resistant cervical cancer I’ve been approved for total pelvic exenteration surgery at UCSF. Confident this is the best next step since we’ve exhausted other promising treatment without success.
I’m 42, restaurant owner, mother of a 7yo daughter, 5yo son and married to my husband for 16 years. I know this will be a HUGE surgery with some major life changes, but thankful for the option instead of more treatment.
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had it. I’ll begin education through UCSF this next week and scheduled for surgery 2/6/25.
