Hello to all. I asked the same question,” why if it is clearly known don’t drs creep for and treat spine issues from our 20’s on. ?” Unfortunately i too suffer from all the degenerative spine problems. Im 61 and have suffered for 23 yrs. I did have a cord compression C5-C7 at age 38 that did leave me as a functioning quadraplegic in a. Wheelchair. I did finally progress to just walking with a slit limp until 10 yrs ago when the symptoms of the spine deterioration set in. Mine is very severe from C3 down. I am becoming now more of a true quad.
But as i deal with all of this i still ask Why? They knew this years ago!!!!

@mindi63 The modern advancements in spine surgery are fairly recent. Spine surgery can also make someone worse off. My spine surgery was 8 years ago, and I was told then that just 10 years earlier, it may have not been done as well as it is today. I don't think they had minimally invasive procedures back then, but it also sounds like with cord compression, that may not have been possible anyway. Medicine is always changing with new discoveries, new procedures and new gadgets designed to be implanted and being tested. Are your specialists making any recommendations to you now?
