Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

I think the correct term is "clients' and not "patients". Chiropractors have patients when they are practicing in the field for which they are licensed.

@normahorn agreed. McCormick is no longer doing chiropractic care so ,technically everyone who consults with him would be a client.

I have abdominal bloating and edema of my feet and calves. As of this month I have had 1 year (12 months) of abdominal injections of Evenity. I've had bloating perodically in the past, almost constantly now since using Evenity, I've had edema of my feet, ankles and calves for several months. It has become worse in the last 3 weeks , to the extent of Plus 1 and Plus 2. My blood pressure and weight have increased for the last three months. I am not taking a diuretic

@arlene7 facial rash is noted in the clinicals. It is thought to be an allergic reaction, so an antihistamine might help. The concern is for anaphaylaxis which can affect your kidney function. http://www.evenity.com
"Call your healthcare provider or go to the nearest emergency room right away if you have any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction including: rash; hives; swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing."
While this seems like a terrible post to receive early in the morning, I suspect you are not in danger this long after the injections. You might reconsider the next injection with the help of the providing physician.

So I will be receiving my 5th Evenity shot next week. My only change has been my blood work. Since being on Evenity I had my Comprehensive Metabolic Panel done. It shows, only since being on Evenity, that my Alkaline Phosphatase, S has been elevated. It is a high 192. Has anyone had any labs done? If so, has anyone seen any elevation on their Alkaline Phosphatase S while being on Evenity?

I just had liver function test and complex metabolic panel and my ALP was high as well. I’ve only had 2 months on Evenity. Is this something common ? It is discussed in Evenity information online.

@deborahrb, ALP is a measurement of bone growth activity; it is highly concentrated in osteoblasts. Elevation is normal with romosozumab as a good indication that the medication is working effectively.
ALP is also elevated after a fracture when the bone begins healing. I only mention this because with osteoporosis we as sometimes on the verge of fracture. If you are having bone pain or muscle spasms be sure and let your provider know.

Hi, i am Elisabeth from Long Island. I am new to this conversation. I will have my 3rd Evenity injection on Tuesday. It left my arms quite sore as well. After 2 days I was fine. I am 59 and was concerned about the risks and so I spoke to my cardiologist before starting.

You're amazing @gently. ALWAYS spending the time to help all of us out. You are very much appreciated. I'm on the 5th shot of Evenity, and so far, all is good. Wish my rheumatologist did bone markers, but she's dead set against writing me a script.
