Hello @joanland, and all others in this great discussion about the benefits of walking. Walking outdoors is great exercise (and therapeutic). However, like @joanland, I also live in a climate where slippery sidewalks make up most of the winter weather. I have found some YouTube videos (at no cost), that provide for an indoor, at home, walking experience. Here is a link to some of these.

One of my favorites is found on the yes2next website, where a mother and daughter exercise together.

Slippery sidewalks most of the winter? What part of the world is this?

I will say this to anyone who doesn't know about ice: It can be very dangerous! A fall can happen in an instant and ruin your health permanently. Stay away from ice! Be especially careful of "black ice" or when the temperature is cold, even above freezing, when surfaces are wet.

Be very careful even simply stepping out of the car, getting mail, etc. when there may be ice, frozen slush or freezing rain around. I know all this because I know people, including myself, that have had serious falls on ice that includes traumatic brain injury and broken bones that took months to heal and even still cause issues years later.

And I will caution everyone (from personal experience) to wear proper walking or workout shoes in the house when you exercise there. Slippers on hardwood floors or tile can be as bad as slipping on the ice. And exercising barefoot (other than yoga) is an invitation to sore feet, an aching back or shin splints. Also remove obstacles or you may have bruised knees, and any loose rugs that can slide.
Over time, I have managed to do every one of these dumb things in my own home - I'm a slow learner I guess.🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the link. It will take some effort for me to walk indoors, especially in my rather small home, but I'll sure give it a try.
