I had pain ...stinging aching in rectum .. I was misdiagnosed with internal hemorrhoids fir months until I could get a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy showed the tiny 2cm mass and the edges were non malignant but the Surgeon didn't agree w that. So
I then had an anal scope in
office.. then a complete biopsy
under anesthesia which
revealed squamous cell
carcinoma anal cancer
All the while. Hard to sit!! Pain in rectum
Off to Mayo .. never regretted it. Superior care .
Thanks for the info. I also have had aching in that area. Will mention it to my GI dr next week.
Glad you are able to get into Mayo.
Best wishes for full recovery.
and best wishes and strength be yours as you become a strong advocate for yourself
GI is who did the analscope as part of my diagnostics and she could see the small mass on the left ..after the colonoscopy yielded a visual we were not expecting Time is always of the essence and the more clinicians you have involved the better, All I wanted was the facts,, not suppositions or guesswork , Took months !! Looking back, I wish I had insisted on timely and complete diagnostics,, I am sure I felt more comfortable with the hemmoroid path than imagining it was cancer !! My bedroom looked like CVS .. Wrong path!!! Best to you!!
also if you are in pain, they should move the colonoscopy up or send you to a place that can do it sooner
I don’t have constant pain just sporadic. I was told they had to wait 8 weeks since I also had gallbladder surgery
Of course.!!
Yes, I have had colon cancer and a colon and liver resection 5 yrs ago, had Chemo and check ups regularly, at 83 I was told they did not want to do anymore colonoscopies for safety reasons , they could damage or perforate the the colon. Had CT scans and blood tests instead. I have passed the 5 year mark and cancer free. (Am 86 now)
