@blessedmayo1111 - the only food allergy testing I've ever done was in the 1980s in Colorado with the allergist directing me to take 2 - or perhaps or 3 - weeks off at a time for a whole list of ingredients, one at a time (lecithin, wheat, corn, etc.). I had to make notes as it went and report back. It was socially kind of miserable, and I went down to the bottom end of the normal weight for my height. A possible light reaction to corn was all that came out of it.

I'm sure I and others who have talked about food allergies or food allergy testing for themselves or a loved one might be interested to hear what your testing involved and may have information to share about their experiences with these types of testing, such as @yvonne2017 @saucy @cindychesler @kbro2010. @waynes @gardeningjunkie also may have some thoughts.

blessedmayo1111 - I'm wondering if you would share more about the customized approaches you underwent for allergy testing for specific foods and what you liked about the approach?

Hello 🌠

I sympathize with the 'standard' recommendations for food avoidance "back in the day" BUT thankfully modern medicine HAS advanced for food allergy evaluation + the best recommendations now...

Dr. Leah Ishmael of Mayo Jacksonville is an exceptional allergist + reviewed my medical history as it relates to suspected or previously confirmed food allergies...

She ordered a comprehensive Blood RAST panel for specific foods. Because Mayo is a GLOBAL MEDICAL LEADER = the VALIDITY + REALIBILITY of the MAYO LABS for their food allergy testing IS more precise + accurate. Most smaller hospitals + private practice doctors SEND OUT blood RAST samples TO private labs + they vary in the level of their service quality = not ALL labs can match the highest quality standards of world respecred MAYO LABS 😇🙏🌠

After my blood RAST tests were evaluated within the exceptional Mayo Laboratories = Dr. Leah Ishmael ordered THE BEST skin tests I have EVER received!
57 skin tests were carefully administered on my back + TWO highly specialized nurses assessed the responses = one nurse noted a positive or negative response + carefully MEASURED the precise size of the positives as the 2nd allergy nurse recorded the results on a patient skin test evaluation chart.

In some cases = BOTH nurses assessed to reach a consensus.

This is PRECISION based medicine at its finest🌠

The next step will be FOOD CHALLENGE TESTS = a specific list of foods were selected for an in office Food Challenge.

Just imagine after 30+ years (!) of avoiding ALL nuts + shellfish 😇🙏👏

The PURE delight in looking at Pecans,
Cashews,
Almonds,
Coconut
+ Walnuts!!!

I am so excited to stop in the grocery store + just STARE at these foods that were banned to me for much of my adult life...

As each food challenge is scheduled, I will bring in a small quantity of ONE food to be tested...

I plan on buying it in its natural state with no seasonings + preferably orgqnic so the results are not confounded.

I will initially place a small amount on my lip then hopefully no reaction + eat a small quantity. I will stay for a few hours to be monitored in a state of bliss + pass the time watching HGTV + being genuinely thankful for the Spirit of Mayo 🌠 medical heroes who deliver world class care, each + every day 😇🙏👏

My NMD did bloodwork and sent it to Alletess Medical Laboratory. It is a food sensitivity test and they put together a booklet and rating of many foods most of which I was eating. It can often take up to 72 hours to have a reaction to foods that produce problems. I was eating eggs everyday turns out I have a sensitivity to them and many other foods I ate.
