I wish I could say it is easier to have the cancer than be the one trying to care for and feeling helpless, but we do not get to choose our position in the journey. I can say at times I was most cruel to the ones closest to me. If you have access to a social worker at your treatment center, see if you can get any support both for yourself and him. As in most things, mental health is severely lacking in the American health care system.
