I found Mayo Connect through a web search on Bronchiectasis. I have been reading it faithfully for about a year and have picked up a lot of useful information here. In fact I learned about Aerobika here as well as 7% saline for nebulizing..

I am 70 and have had a chronic cough for more than ten years due to Bronchiectasis and Acute Sinusitis. Fortunately my breathing is not impaired and cultures from a recent Bronchoscopy were negative on MAC or other such lung infections.

I seem to have garden-variety bronchiectstasis and have a need to clear my airways of mucous regularly. My current management routine is to rinse my sinuses with a saline solution during my morning shower. After showering I nebulize for about ten minutes with a vial of Ipratropium Bromide and Albuterol Sulfate solution. After hacking up the mucous I am good for the day.

Before bedtime I nebulize for ten minutes with a vial of 7% saline. I have a belief that the saline in my lungs at night leads to a healthier lung biome. I have had no 'flareups' since going with nightly 7% and the quantity color and viscosity of my mucous has been consistent.
