I take magnesium glycinate and potassium (or just eat a 1/2 banana) for the leg and foot cramps. While taking potassium, regular blood work should follow to make sure electrolytes are in order. Bananas and magnesium are fine though without labs. I started with 120 mg magnesium glycinate and went to 240, which is my bowel tolerance, as it can have a laxative effect. Over time my leg and foot cramps are almost completely gone. It did not eliminate muscle spasms in my neck and back from the condition that was being treated, so a muscle relaxer is still necessary for that.

The combination you were given is one of the lowest concerns although, some have adverse reactions to Tramadol or combos with it. Everyone is different. I agree that a pharmacist is most knowledgeable about risks and contraindications.
