Should I get 2nd opinion on tumor?

Hello Folks,

A few months ago I received a mammogram and needed ultrasound due to extreme density. When receiving my first ultrasound they found a questionable area. They had me come in for a second ultrasound and told me it was a tumor. The radiologist says "I do not know what type of tumor it is, but I know it's not cancer." Right now it is the size of a pea. They did not biopsy it or mark it. Should I get a second opinion? I have breast cancer in my family and it made me uneasy when he couldn't name what I have.

Glad to hear you're getting a biopsy. That's the only way they're going to know what it is. Imaging doesn't always correlate with pathology, good or bad, and the only way to really know whats in there is to take part or all of it out.

I got a second opinion even though I liked my medical team and they did do biopsies. It’s just too serious a diagnosis not to make sure your treatment plan is the right one for you. I would definitely ask another doctor at another facility. A friend said to me - you are the CEO of your own body - do research, ask questions! If you can get to Mayo, I highly recommend asking them.
