Healing was going great and seemingly back to normal except for some minor incontinence. Approx. 4 weeks post op there was a big change. I developed pain upon urination which also included short bursts of sharp pain in prostate itself. The urge to urinate increased dramatically as did the frequency of needing go. At times I can barely make it to the bathroom. Stream is now not always strong and I no longer feel like I am emptying my bladder. Had a Urine culture done to rule out a UTI and it was negative. I'm now 7 weeks post op and hoping for improvement as the healing continues. Every surgery is different and every recovery is different as well. Hoping for the best.

In my 7 year experience with a similar problem to yours my suggestion is ask your Dr for 7 days of a typical urinary tract antibiotic. If your symptoms reduce it's telling you that you have an infection.
Standard MSU tests are outdated and not reliable.

I am 4.5 weeks after my HoLep and having similar problems. After 3 weeks I developed a UTI and was given antibiotics for 10 days. During the last couple of days of taking the antibiotics I started passing the scabs and my urine flow decreased dramatically. Less than a week later back to the emergency room and once again diagnosed with UTI. I am now 3 days into antibiotics and the burn is still there along with very little flow. My urologist is out of town for the next 2 to 3 weeks and just trying to get by till that time. I also don’t feel like I am emptying my bladder. I drink water all day long hoping to clear this UTI.
