Treatment for burning feet and ankles
I can’t sleep at night due to burning feet and ankles. Has anyone found a product that you can rub onto these that takes away the discomfort and allows you to get to sleep

( Voltaren,OTC Diclofenac, Same stuff. ) Myo Med Pro. Works for me several years!
Hydrocortisone cream helps with fairly quick relief.
Using an off-the-shelf lotion that contains Aloe-Vera and Cucumber extract and applied to foot and ankle this eases the numb feeling and mostly eliminates the shooting pain. I apply the lotion at night and in the morning. I do not use compression socks.
That sounds good. I’ve looked on line and there are a lot of product to choose from, can you tell me where you get it from please
My husband has suffered with foot neuropathy, not related to diabetes since he had it YEARS before endocrinologist declared he had Type 2, with AIC always being below 6....Anyway, it has progressed to bouts of intensely painful, burning neuropathic pain which was so bad that he could not get any sleep. He learned online how application of Vick's helped many sufferers, so he tried it. Slathered on the stinky ointment and covered both feet with non binding socks. He found relief, ranging from lessening of pain to PAIN GONE. OVER TIME, THIS HAS NOT WORKED AS WELL AS AT ONSET. His endocrinologist (fairly new of about 3 yrs since the other one moved way far from our area) is receptive and open to anything that works for her patients, and is respectful of my husband's not wanting to take prescription medication (he has a laundry list of medications and supplements for several serious health issues). He does take ALA, and has done so for years, but definitely there are circumstances under which the ALA has not been as effective. However, he continues taking it since overall his neuropathic pain does seem to be held in check by the supplement. Rheumatoid arthritis and Raynaud's have roles in the pain that he deals with. Wears nonbinding, thick socks (with elements of wool) and took my advice of replacing shoes with 1/2 size larger, WIDE width, comfy-padded, and ample foot bed to allow for comfort. No leather, which don't allow for "stretching out" of toes and leather can create pressure over tops of feet.
My pn is diagnosed from toxic exposure in Vietnam. Although I'm presently seeing a pain mgmt specialist outside of VA, I have a VA neurologist for migraine treatment. My current daily dosage of 1800mg does not address any pain in my lower or upper extremities. However, I am using lidocaine patches on the bottom of my feet, which helps some with the burning and tingling.
I use Triflora Arthritis Gel and it really helps me.
Large ice packs I can roll around my feet and ankles at night. Usually have to swap out every 3 or 4 hours. Amazon makes cold packs which are relatively cheap
I frequently have burning in my feet upon waking; it sometimes extends all the way up to my knees & wakes me up in the early morning hours.
I recently started wearing light compression socks that cover from midfoot up to my knee and I’ve only woke up with minimal burning three days this week…
FIRST OF ALL, sincerest thank you for your service to our country. My father was with the army, served in WWII and the Korean War, and my only sibling Luís was a Marine. They both are my heavenly angels.
In regard to your pain, what is it that you take a daily dosage of 1800mg?
May I suggest you try the Vick's rubbed onto your feet, including your painful soles? Works for my husband, but I detest the odor (and of any other ointments), so I've used Vick's only when in intense pain. It IS effective! I know how upsetting it can be to have the soles burn and tingle...that happens to me every once in a while, especially when lumbar area nerve pain is severe. Can't stand and definitely can't walk. I do find that putting legs up high against the wall (in family room) really helps to reduce the intensity of the pain/burning. While I'm lying on the floor (tush close to wall and legs leaning straight up on the wall), I extend my arms out to either side of body, and focus on relaxing my body, starting with the toes/feet, etc, one area at a time, taking slow breaths, concentrating on releasing tensions from each body part, until I finally reach the top of my head, and just LET GO , feeling the cranial/facial, etc areas just MELT into such a pleasant state of relaxation. Nice to have soft music in background, but not require. Point is to help yourself in a self-directed exercise which for me is soooo heavenly. You can do this when not in pain also, as a gentle and effective way to promote "self caring"...SLOWLY get down from wall, wiggle your way toward a position where you can sit up and get up from floor. Stay sitting for a few minutes, breathing and enjoying how great your relaxed body feels (might not be totally pain free but definitely better than before!)
I wish you wellness, and peace.🙏🏽🌺
